Our Purpose

Willem Van Oranje Lodge 3976 stands as a beacon of camaraderie and mutual support in London. We are committed to developing strong community ties, promoting personal growth, and engaging in meaningful philanthropic work. Our mission is to provide a welcoming environment where members can thrive and contribute to a greater good.

Our Lodge In Brief

Welcome to our website. Here you’ll find a quick introduction to what makes the Willem Van Oranje Lodge special, from our history and meetings to the shared journeys of our members. Whether you’re simply curious or considering joining, we invite you to explore each section and browse the site to discover how tradition, fellowship, and character come together in our Masonic home.

Origins & Present Home

The Lodge was originally formed by Naval, Military and Civilian brethren interned in the Netherlands under the Hague Convention of August 1917, who had been Prisoners of War in Germany. It was consecrated in July 1981, No.118 under the jurisdiction of the Grand Orient of the Netherlands. The Lodge name was chosen in memory of the famous Dutch Prince and Freemason, afterwards King of England, in recognition of the hospitality afforded to British Freemasons by their Dutch Brethren, without whose fraternal co-operation and sympathetic help the Lodge could not have existed; and as a further binding link between the two great Masonic Powers.
Our present home is at Freemasons’ Hall in London.

When We Meet

The Regular Meetings of the Willem Van Oranje Lodge 3976 are held on the last Saturday of the months in February, September and November (Installation) and the third Saturday in May.

Who We Are

Our members are varied in age (from 21 to 89), varied in professions, from students to the retired,  varied in race, religion, culture and upbringings.
They became Freemasons for a variety of reasons. Some as a result of family tradition, others upon the introduction of a friend or out of curiosity to know what it is all about.

Journeys in Freemasonry

Those who have become active members of our Lodge and have chosen to grow in Freemasonry have done so principally because they enjoy it. They enjoy the challenges and fellowship which Freemasonry offers.

How the Lodge Works

The structure and working of the Lodge and the sequence of ceremonial events offer our members a framework for companionship, teamwork, character development and enjoyment of shared experiences.
